The cold winter weather is going to start warming up and that means residents of our Tacoma WA, apartments will have an opportunity to explore new outdoor activities. With a variety of different skate parks to choose from skateboarding may be right up your alley. It gives you exercise and allows you to enjoy the sun and outdoors with hours of entertainment. The initial investment isnt too daunting most skate parks have obstacles suited for any skill level.
The basic elements that constitute a skateboard are wheels, bearings, trucks and the deck. Specific brands of wheels arent as important as the quality of wood, trucks and bearings. Trucks are the metal axels that give you the ability to turn, and are used to grind rails. Its important to get your new skateboard from the right place, many people tend to settle on a cheap skateboard to see if they like the sport. Most people who choose the route end up frustrated. A few places you can go in Tacoma are Zumiez, Grit City Grindhouse and Bleach skate shop.
The price of these skateboards can run anywhere from $115 to $135 depending on the brand of trucks, wheels and decks you choose. However, a lot of skate shops have what they call blank decks (no graphics on the bottom of the board) you can buy for significantly less than popular brand of board with a graphic. Your new skateboard should last you at least 6 months given that you are a beginner.
Five years into skateboarding I was in need of a new board yet again. I purchased a blank deck and headed for the skate park. Twenty minutes after that I was back at the skate shop purchasing another deck. This is an extremely rare occurrence, but its possible, especially as you get into advanced tricks. If you find yourself loving the sport as much as I do, the life of your boards will start diminishing as the drops get higher, gaps wider and rails longer.
There are several skate parks in the Tacoma area, and many of them arent far from our rentals in Tacoma, WA. The first is Heidelberg Davis that offers 8,000 beautiful square feet of steel and concrete. It closes at dusk and helmets are not required. Norpoint is another exhilarating park that is a little larger at 10,000 square feet. This skate park was opened in 2008 and also closes at dusk. Both of these parks are free and are preferable over running from security guards and courthouse appearances.
We hope you are as excited as we are to get out and try something new this spring. This is just one recommendation of an outdoor activity that will keep you entertained for hours on end. Whatever your passion stay, with it and continue to excel.
