The Point Defiance Zoos Educational Adventures

May is home to Endangered Species Day. Here are the educational adventures available at the Point Defiance Zoo for residents of our Nantucket Gate apartments.May is home to lots of spring-themed events and fun, but its also home to Endangered Species Day, which puts a spotlight on conservation efforts to help beautiful animals both near and far thrive. Locally, you can support conservation efforts and learn more about endangered animals by visiting the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium. Below, we highlight how residents of our Nantucket Gate apartments in Tacoma can do just that. Zoo Summer Camps These zoo summer camps are geared toward the budding adventurist in any kids that might be part of your family, whether immediate, extended cousins, or nieces and nephews. Divided up by different grade levels, theres something for any level of interest whether they want to learn about becoming wildlife photographers, scientists, explorers, or artists. You can learn more about each of the available programs over here. Adopt-An-Animal Something thats less activity-based and more directly associated with conservation is the zoos adopt-an-animal program. Although you dont get to bring one home, you do get to support any animal of your choosing. Everything from arctic foxes to clouded leopards, sumatran tigers, red wolves, and more are available to support. Becoming either a zoo friend or zoo parent includes a stuffed plush version of the animal youre adopting, a picture of your new animal friend, a certificate of adoption, and an animal fact sheet. You can learn more about their animal adoption over here. Zoo After Dark For families with children or any extended family children that might be visiting, the zoo will occasionally hold public zoo snoozes where you can learn more about the different nocturnal animals at the zoo, along with learning other fun camping or stargazing skills. You can read more about their zoo after dark activities over yonder.
